December Days DD
The snow falling, sticking to the window pain.
The air carries a chill that could freeze the dead.
The ache of seasonal depression trying to find its way in.
Gazing at the burning fire, listening to the crackle of wood echoing, watching the flames blazing,
glowing in the darkness with deep orangey-red hues.
The dancing flames sing to me—a gentle song of old, one from my ancestors long ago.
Time seems to vanish, but I don't mind.
This is where I prefer to stay on a December day.
