Sandra Haight Poet Rhyme

December

December
December, known as
last month of our year,
brings happiness to 
celebration, cheer.
Soon January will 
begin, appear 
with new beginnings
wipe the old year clear.

A time to tally up 
the happy, sad 
those prior months, 
before December had.
Months, torn away 
from calendars like mad,
now gone; new year 
awaits its launching pad.

December closes 
circle of year's time
the ending of beginning, 
now pastime.
Completion of December 
is the sign
A brand new year 
will enter our lifetime.
