Deceived

My inquisitive mind deceives sometimes,
Finds information that just isn't so,
I find myself committing crimes,
My excuse being that I just didn't know.
Luckily I have never been caught,
Its hard to stay honest and yet,
I just say its something I bought,
Because my foolish mind causes regret.
I thought I was supposed to take it.
I walked away, I did not run.
Never assumed I would not make it.
The life of a kleptomaniac is no fun.

Interesting how the mind tries to tease us into believing things we know aren't so. Nice write! :)

I heartily agree Merv! I, too, often just open a book, close my eyes, and point at a word - then it's a trick to create a poem. You do it well! :)

Heheh, my brain tries and succeeds to tease me every waking hour. Sometimes I win, and sometimes it pinches my memory clean away. But this one is all fiction. Wife said the open a dictionary and choose a topic, so I opened in the K's. Thanks for liking it.

Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God bless you.

Well thank you, and thank God that he gave me the notion to find this group.

A fun poem, or an honest assessment, Merv? Either way, fascinating.

No I have led a pretty much straight and narrow life, I got into the odd scrap at times, but always a fair fight. Stayed on the right side of the law, I didn't see the point in risking everything by breaking the law. Seems those that did, either got locked up or spent their life hiding and looking over their shoulder. That wasn't for me. Taught my kids the same logic.
