Deceitful Moon

Grand thief, lovely fraud That plunders waning sunlight. A cold, lifeless thing. Silver lies, reflected rays Passed off as dreamy moonlight.

The more I read your poetry, the more I notice themes about light, reflection and intensity of colors. 'Shining' things; you write them so well, and they imbue your poetry with a deep richness. PS more haikus?? -Jeremy

A lovely tanka, full of images, and despite the 'cold', warmth.

Oops, my bad Heather, I was reading a poem by Mystic Rose at the same time.

Excellent assessment of the darker side of the moon. I am often seduced by its dark, dreamy moonlight which inspires my creativity.

Good tanka with some rhyme, Heather. I see someone mentioned it could be an entry for a contest. I came to read this one because it does not use one of the five titles of my own contest rules. Was it meant for my contest?

Thanks, Andrea! And no, I didn't write this one for a contest, so not to worry. I was just in the mood to write a tanka.

Heather you have written an awesome poem here. Every line is a gem. i love your description of the moon. What a great visual of it as a masquerading ball passing itself off as a source of light.
