Death's Qualities
Death,
It comes
With blackened heart
And steals the very life of us.
It is ignorant
Or is it
That death is very smart
And recognizes
Our vulnerabilities,
Our weaknesses?
It takes
That which it wants
and leaves
others in pain.
But, is death
The true enemy?
Though it rips at
And opens our hearts,
It brings hearts together
By reuniting.
It makes those left behind
Face their fears
And strengthen
Within themselves.
It makes us
Love each day
And each other
Even more.
Death,
Be not proud
Of your obvious actions,
But take pride
In those fulfilling gifts
You leave behind.
You are foolish
In your arrogance,
But are unknowingly generous
With the gifts
You bestow upon
Those left behind.
Tom, may you fly storng with your wings, but yet hover nearby.
