Death To Music

You think you’re innocent I see it in your face The arrogance of self belief The naïve glow of one who does no wrong You look at me and smirk A cruel line of pouting lips mars your beautiful face You turn your nose up A pretentious façade of superiority Mocking me Begging the question, What else did you expect my dear? Fall in love with a rock star… And you die a metallic death So I did… And now my heart lies skewered Impaled on your guitar My blood stains the chords The crisp white sheets of your flawless music As for the bereft keening of my soul… It echoes the voices of your demonic choir But you do not even listen To you I am just another statistic A discarded puppet with tangled strings You slammed the door on me Threw me out with your other discordant notes I am no more than a song out of key A forgotten melody mangled by your strings Gone and forgotten Good riddance to bad rubbish I was not metal or heart enough for you
