Death the Silent Lover
Death the silent lover
always near but far
dedicated to his work
unreliable but faithful
he waits today
but hurries tomorrow
sees, hears his lover
but lover sees him not
he waits as lover feeds
but when he comes
swallows lover wholesale
This silent listener
seeing with eyes closed
hearing with ears blocked
precarious unpredictable
he is!
