Death of a Dream
Upon awakening, there is that
brief moment between two
worlds, when you're not sure
where the dream ends and
reality begins, where some
elements of both seem to blend
together. Then slowly,
responsibility strangles the joy
of carelessness, the weight of
the world crushes the beautiful
fantasy, and the harsh realities
of life drown the blissfulness
that once was everything, and
even if you go back to sleep
you can never return to where
you'd rather dwell forever in
happiness. Now if this feeling
occurs and you were never
really asleep...you become
trapped in a living nightmare,
and the dream life you've been
sleepwalking through is forever
dead. May you keep your eyes
closed forever...and never
wake up.
