Death Is But An Open Door

According to the ones who know I have six weeks to live It’s hard for me to take it slow With so much love to give My cancer is my enemy My agent of destruction But there is not a remedy Except for this deduction That man was born to live and die And love along the way The memories that get us by Are made from day to day How beautiful is what we bring To bless each soul we meet For like the velvet rose in Spring The gift of life is sweet The tender hearts we cultivate Are beating in our youth They need our love to demonstrate The resonance of truth Our death is but an open door The good in our good night The path we take to live once more Where love provides the light.
