Death Is But a Slumber
The autumn sun has risen
but yet to attain high noon-
Make hay, my Rose fair.
I would not be happy to see you
decaying with the hasting day.
I have short time as you
Going too quickly to decay.
I would not look at the clock
and I would not my heart lock.
If death is a certainty in life
it is love’s labor’s lost to strive.
Then why should one but a death fear
As I understand death is but a slumber.
It is just sleep in eternity to rise
It is the very death that dies.
I am ready to go as predestined
Oh,Lord, untie the strings to my life.
If today is last day, tomorrow too late
I would say good bye to yesterday.
