Death Brings Me To My Son
I am not afraid of you
I used to be
But not anymore
You aren’t my friend
Nor my enemy either
Inevitability on a journey all must tend
So now you are my companion
Something to cling to
You draw me near
But never too close
Maybe you are not ready
For a path this long and hard
Some people run from you
I simply wait for you
You might not be welcomed
But, neither will you be shunned
For you are no longer a stranger
And I will not leave you behind
So do not be afraid of me
Your embrace will not be the end
But an exhilarating new beginning
On that day I will call you friend
For the gift you give me
Will be the embrace of another
