Dear Winter

To dedicate a poem to you I am committed,
Though it might have to be admitted,
That with your footprints hidden under a layer of snow,
I find it hard to know,
How to write anything about you,
   to make you glow,
Enough to compare with other seasons on show.

It does not help that you drop in to say hullo,
When I am least prepared,
with my stock of firewood, very low.

Don't you know it is rude to call around,
When we are are all tucked up in bed.

Can we take a rain check on your visit,
   this time around,
So, the right words can be found,
To give reasons,
as to why you keep hanging around.
