Dear Winnie

Dear Winnie,
I will not despair for you,
For you are here with us,
Buried in the sanctuary of memory,
Our beloved mother and sister,
The mother of a nation
You carried on your shoulders
The burden of tigers and lions,
Until you became the lioness,
And roared for your children,
Some tried to burn you
Not knowing you were sulphur,
Cut you to pieces
Not knowing you were iron,
They could never win,
A life of service is one which
Nobody will ever forget,
Rest in strength dear Winnie,
Dear Winnie.....

This is a magnificent, well-written tribute to a magnificent woman and patriot! Hugs and best regards. Pandita

oh my, what a most beautiful tribute this is. I had an aunt winnie that died a few years ago of cancer. She was on my dad's side so I hardly knew her. I wish I had gotten to know my dad's many siblings!
