Dear Sunshine

This unprepared request of
mine
May sound bizarre as
darkness' shine
But look upon how safe I
fare
And tell me if your light is
fair.

In darkness frogs have
chance to sing
And owls become the lords
of birds
And bats pretend to live like
birds
And saints may have a
secret fling.

In it our bodies lose their
speech
And liars are believable
In it some aren't invisible
Behold the law is out of
reach.

So why not stay forever
away
So none can come for their
old debt
And try to seize my old
blanket
With which I drive the chills
away?
