Dear My Friends

My neighbor is a photographer
He takes pictures of nature
He seems interested in taking pictures of me
My friends would like some pictures too

My neighbor is a photographer
My friends would like him to see the nature in them
They would prefer pictures that bring out what they once were
He is on a journey to find that

My neighbor is a photographer
He finds the joy in the tears
He finds the tears in the laughter
Can he say that is nature?

My neighbor is a photographer
As he journeys to finds the nature in my friends
He seems to think
What nature do these people want me to find

My neighbor is a photographer
While my friends send out their best smiles
He sees the regret in their eyes
He sees the people they had wanted to be

What my friends were after
Was not what they once were
But rather, what they wish they were

The nature they are looking for
Was not what they had
But what they could have had
