Dear mum

In 2026 my mind will be free
The demise of three
Made me look deep within myself
I’m not like you health really means wealth

I loved you with all my heart
Cancer made you depart
It was a very sad ending
An easy way out from all the pretending

You may have been gone for over 13 years
But that doesn’t mean the past disappears
You too were also complicit
You would know if you are a spirit

For years I thought you were the better one
Nothing will make your actions undone
You trained me to be independent
Not realising you filled me with resentment

You allowed him to take control
And in return killed my soul
You joined him in destroying a child
You lied to everyone to make me sound wild

You treated me like his spare
Born 5 years later from the true heir
Realising something is wrong with him
You thought you could tear me limb from limb

You wanted me completely isolated
You wanted me mutilated
To be a spare to the golden boy
It’s something you both enjoy

You also raised your hands
All I could do is stand and withstand
You beat me with your high heals
Despite my cries and appeals

You kept me locked up kept me small
Tell them all I had a great fall
You used your school connections
Making sure you cover your own imperfections

You lied about me to anyone who would listen
To get sympathy and recognition
Played the victim perfectly
Give the world certainty

Outside those 4 walls you were an angel
Abstaining from any feelings of being shameful
You and him targeted me
The narrative written so others agree

You threaten me with sending me to a kids home
You manipulated social services, all to keep control
Don’t have an ounce of love or respect
Nothing changed I was still your subject

You were not a bad person to everyone
Your temper and wrath cannot be undone
You had time for many charities
Releasing your heart from barbarities

You had time for your own hobbies
Were sick and still sell poppies
You had time for your own friends
Anything to not do your job and defend

You had time for everyone but one son
Your actions can’t be redone
You had kindness to everyone that mattered
Always leaving one person shattered

You always had time for my brother
Signs of autism so you smother
You clearly loved him more
Worship him to the core

You gave him everything he wanted
He knew it and deeply bonded
Nothing real about his love
Always believed when he shove

You didn’t want to spend time with me
Just another absentee
Death does not clear your name
For me my soul I need to reclaim

Only I recently didn’t see you in the same light
Missed you thought you were bright
Thought he controlled you too
You could of done more that is true

You had a tough life
You were his wife
You both passed
A place where you cannot rewrite the past
