Dear Heart

Dear heart,
you know I love you so much,
but I'm trying to find someone to love again.
So do not be jealous.

For many times, I slipped and we were both broken,
and I knew how painful it was,
so I was afraid to try again.
But this time, I decided to try anew.

When I listen to the sound of your beating,
I hear your muffled cry,
for you may think
that we will end up in pain again.

But do not be afraid, for if I fall, pain is just temporary.
But the pain of regretting
for the things that I should have done, but did not,
is permanent.

You were there everytime I fell, trying to climb my mountain.
You were there everytime I fell, trying to fly high.
You were there everytime I stumbled for trying to run fast.
You were also there, the times I was nursing bruises from falling out of love.

So, there's no reason for you to be afraid that I will fall again.
For, throughout the years, I have developed the thought
that I'd rather try to fly, even if it means that I may fall,
than to die without trying.

And by the way, do not be too afraid to fall,
for, we must at times fall,
for if we keep flying high without a fall, our head may grow big, and float, and we may be lost in space forever.

We fall
so we can learn to nurse the part of us that was broken and rise again, higher.
We fall
so we can learn to kneel down before the one who is above us and before the one we love.
