Dear Future Self
Dear future self,
Please take care of your mental health,
And here’s your reminder that wisdom is wealth.
Always make time to care for yourself
And stop putting your needs on a shelf.
You deserve healing.
Don’t underestimate the power of feelings.
You’re not lost, you’re just overwhelmed.
Dear future self,
You are more than what’s happened to you,
When people tell you how strong you are, know what they say is true.
I know the depression is like a spell
And that at this moment you’re not feeling well,
But in time your burdens will lessen
And you won’t be consumed by aggression.
You’re more courageous than you think, your fears have been quelled.
Dear future self,
Through the highs and lows be kind to yourself,
Through it all pride yourself
On your ability to overcome what troubles
You have the resiliency to rise from the rubble,
Never losing hope of a brighter and better tomorrow
Cherishing your progress, however slow.
Dear future self,
I know it’s dark and you feel empty,
I know giving up may seem tempting,
But please believe that you’ll be okay in time
And no matter how high the mountain, you will surely climb.
One day you’ll look back at this and know you succeeded.
You’ll be content with your life and how you’re treated.
Most of all, when times are tough, always remember…
You are worthy. You are enough.
