Dear Ducklings
My Ducklings,
Like roses,
They’re soft and delicate,
With thorns,
They’re ready to prick
My Ducklings,
Hard like rocks,
Study like bamboo
My Ducklings,
Like a butterfly,
Their transformations are unique,
Beautiful
Like a dog
Loyalty is key
Like a beaver,
Their work ethic is unrivaled
My ducklings,
The ones who are able to make me laugh,
To deal with my anger,
My sadness,
My anxiety
Even though they harass me,
And I harass them,
I wouldn’t trade them for anything
They make me happy,
They make me whole
To me,
They’re perfect
Marieke,
My original duckling,
My measle the weasel,
Never learning to go wide,
Like an elephant,
Their patients is a gift
Randy,
My dirty duckling,
Who’s mind is a mystery
Like a monkey,
Their humor is their best quality
Always able to bring up the mood
Leila,
My innocent duckling
Who has a voice like a lion,
Who’s roar makes everyone listen
Who has things to say
A natural born leader
Avery,
My snake duckling,
The idiot who chews gum during soccer,
Who gets beat up,
Like a deer,
They have strength with gentleness
Foreste,
My stalker duckling,
My problematic child,
My toad,
Who’s artistic abilites are unfathomable
Who’s obsession with mushrooms are a cause for concern
My ducklings are what I'm thankful for this year
