Deaf Ears

Words flow from the heart
from deep within the heart
They flow down to deaf ears
ears that hear, but do not listen

Love is given, yet not received
too busy with things and worries
to listen for ‘whispers’ of love

Reaching out for touch
only to get brushed aside
why is all so much more important
than that special time spent
with one the really loves me and loves me endlessly

Time with the one that loves me
with one who gave all for me
to have me as His own

Yet in all that I do and all that I say
if I turn from His guidance ...
And I choose to disobey ...
It’s those arms I also turn from.

How can I refuse those arms
the arms that opened so wide...
As to give His very life
That life is my reason for being!
