Dead Winter
It's zero degrees in this desolate land,
Frostbite over freeze, I can barely stand.
I hear laughter and cries as I look left then right;
There is no one in sight on this dead winter night.
The darkness has fallen like a cascading avalanche;
The few trees I see are barren, with no leaf on any branch.
I heard footsteps behind me, yet I stand alone;
Would anyone find me, or am I on my own?
There is no phone, no gas station for miles around,
Just this one winding dirt road and snow upon the ground.
I cry out for help and there still is no answer;
Can I make it out alive from this creepy nightmare?
So fear stricken I begin to run frantic;
I fall upon my face with frozen tears as I panic!
I just want to scream out loud and lift my voice in anguish;
Why me!? Why now!? I'm just ready to end this....
