Dead Boring

Thoughts keeps rushing through my head I wonder what it’s like when you are dead Do you still ‘wake up’ every morning Or is being dead just really boring? I wonder what it’s like in heaven Do they have a tea break at eleven And sit and chat about their day Get on with jobs, moan about pay Is heaven just like paradise I hope it is, it would be so nice To be somewhere without a care in the world Get pampered and even get my hair curled In this life I just hate to be late But I have no wish to rush to heaven’s gate If I make an error I hope god is forgiving Because I want to remain in the land of the living The thought of dying is not fun I don’t want to be alone, away from everyone Life is all too short for some I fear So cherish those you hold so dear I found out today that this poem is to be published in a book called 'Faith and Hope' by United Press ltd. They want to change the title to 'Thoughts' but this actually takes away the fact 'dead boring' is a play on words so I have asked the original title is maintained. Jan Allison 3rd March 2014

St. Faustina had this vision: "I saw how great is happiness in God, which spreads to all creatures, making them happy; and then all the glory and praise which springs from this happiness returns to its source;... “This source of happiness is unchanging in its essence, but it is always new, gushing forth happiness for all creatures. Now I understand Saint Paul, who said, ‘Eye has not seen, nor has ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him.'”

I've also wondered what there is to DO up there... besides praying and thanking God for forgiving us with Divine Mercy, of course. :) Tea chats would be lovely. Imagine how beautiful the gardens must be, and can we grow and pick flowers... and are there new types of flowers we never saw on earth! Meeting saints, flying with angels? Can we finally fly? And how does Jesus have time to speak to us one-on-one? I'll be waiting my whole life to meet and talk to Him In Person, but so has everyone else!

This is beautiful Jan :-) The introspection and questions are so relatable. There is an innocence to your words that are quite touching with an effortless flow. I had to check the form, your words have a lyrical feel as well as rhyme. The last verse is incredibly poignant. You write moving poetry equally as well as your limericks. This is one to be proud of :-) a fave,7+ lynnxxx I'm sure it's a first for me to say 'I checked the form'. It took me a while to know there were so many..lol

I write in a very simple style (for which I have been criticised for but I don't give a monkey's lol) and when I first started writing I always wrote in rhyme. Since starting writing I have learned so so much and have tried many forms I have never heard of - Soup is a great place to learn new skills and I am blessed to have had so much support from wonderful people here:-) hugs jan xx

It sounds better than it is you enter a contest they pick the writes they like and offer to publish them and then try and get you to buy simply because your poem is in it - of course you have to pay extra for various upgrades - am just happy to have my work in print:-) Hugs jan xx
