De Gourmont Phrasis 1 Recited

REMY de GOURMONT PHRASIS 1
Exotic flowers,intoxicating the
senses with familiar scents and
colours.In this strange oasis the
air hung motionless,the flowers breathed
forth an almost carnal odour.In
the uneven grass,buttercup,moondaisies
and centuary and lingroot like long
thin girls in white hats.Picking
up a red rose, kissing it as though it
were sacred and adored,they enjoyed
delicious moments in those last
autumn days under the rain of dead leaves.

From A Virgin Heart (trans by Huxley) 1922

Listen to me read this phrasis on youtube under my pen name ichthyschiro
