Day Slants Against the Surf of Falling Night
Day slants against the surf of falling night
Across the sky
The wishbone comes aligned in feathered flight
Sparkling the eye
Seemless they move in majesty of white
Passing mountains
Mesmerized, cotton upon cotton - bright
Curdling fountains
Flowing through an orange sea in poet's delight
Singing with praise
Against the deafness of earth, O they light
The dappled days
Brim with faith, and radiant all wisdom glow
A rosy sun
A beauty that from God alone could flow
Where wild dreams run
Now stars will comfort me through the night
The herons gone
For clouds and hills to sing me on my flight
To the bright dawn
