Dawn of Innocence

last night
i stood
searching
for a salient star
beneath
a trenchant sky
in hopes
to find
but one
brightly shining
amidst darkness
to send my wishes
adrift on

this morning
the veil
of twilight
lifted
exposing
a dawn
of ivory
innocence
aglow
with thoughts
dancing
on the breath
of december

it touched
with excitement
like a caress
of feathered
kisses
falling
from lips
of new love

i quivered
in the moment
before
blushing
beneath
somber skies

How incredibly beautiful is this, I'm not asking, I'm stating fact. Sandy, this just brings so much light and love to the scene you have painted with your words. I am in awe of your talent. Sigh.

Thank you so much Tom...i often think snow, first thing in the morning can be a romantic scene...something about its beauty allures, until i have to venture out in it, then it has a different affect on me... hugs

I see you have adopted some of Jeff’s style for this piece. I like how your thoughts flowed like a silken thread through each stanza. Hugs Rick.

Thank you Rick... the scene this morning inspired me but mornings there is no time to scribble in my bus... hugs
