Dawn

A child rises
Stretches
Eyes open to
Breaking dawn
Windows open
To freshening breeze
Clothes on chair
Damp
Sky lightens pink
Moon sliver
White against blue
Baby birds peep
Mouths open for
Breakfast
Crows’ hoarse calls
Call a murder
Together
Katydids
Rub wings, buzz
Predicting heat
Again today
Pale body dons
Shorts, tee
Sandals
A new day
Options: endless.
