Daughter

You came from my body Your heart beats my blood Fear of losing you Makes me hold tight with momentous strength Joy of watching you grow Retrains my hands from making that grasp Miracle of my body Individual of your mind Another generation to live forever In our chain of DNA Each with a history of a spoken past; some pages not read Be you, the pieces of me Embrace the pain with the joy As that is how I got to you Love this life while it is yours to call your own We only get to live again in scattered pieces of the ones who come after us No longer ourselves Just a past in fading memories Find your own way, but know I am forever your mother You are forever my heart
