Darkness of Night

Darkness of night, introduce me to what lurks underneath your enchanting moonbeams. I know that I should stay away, yet, I am drawn to these silent things that could easily end me. I am not afraid of the supernatural. I am spellbound, enraptured, mystified by these psychotic creature's requiem dance, that captures my soul as it's own possession. Darkness of night, take me into your underworld, where the arms of roaming specters can totally envelope me, like a densely tangled spider-web, with no intention to ever let go. Allow them to take me away, to a deep place where, peacefully, my dying soul can finally rest. Darkness of night, tell the devil only this.... he can have all of me, to punish in any befitting manner. I have already been through torture, known pain, lived with loneliness, and seen hell on earth. The devil may care to try, but he cannot hurt me any more. Darkness of night, say goodbye for me. Shout high up to the heavens and tell the sun it needs to shine no longer on me. Dark Poetry Contest

from this marvoulous write i can only deem that at this phase of life ..all a person can think is to giveup ...there are very few who survive ..through their principles ..some hard core people ..n i hope you would too ..get out of it,you have to ..it seems though there is nobody out there but there always is ..love you and your poem Kelly .. i too have gone through this time ..as i wrote such poems you can see them .. i wait for you death ...n ..reminds me of my darkness ..your friend Hina

Life can seem like a rollercoaster at times. I know that my feelings about life tend to go up and down, and that reflects in my poetry. It has actually been awhile since I've written something as dark as this. Usually these feelings are not long lasting.... Once again, I am touched by your thoughtful and caring words, Hina. Wow! Kelly, this is too strong and deep! As a poem it's excellent, but do not let yourself be drawn so intensely into the clutches of an underworld that could repay you with ungratefulness and disdain. This was a heavy write, and I know this kind of poetry isn't for everyone. Most of this is just fantasy and not how I truly feel in my heart. It has been a while since I wrote something like this, and I think all of those feelings just came out....This contest has been judged and I did not place. But, that is all ok! Good morning Kelly, I read this one again, it is very powerful. My prayer for you is that God's light wraps you in a blanket of protection and that the darkness no longer beckons you. The pain you speak of is nothing compared to what awaits those who one day make the journey to hell.

There was a time in my life, when I felt like I was living in hell. But, I know there are worse things that people have lived through.

What is it about the dark that attracts us so? You were made for light, you are worthy of walking in paradise, do not settle for the shadows. A brilliant piece of writing wrapped in a blanket of sadness.

I don't know what it is about the darkness, but we seem to be mesmerized by it's mysteries.... Some of my days are spent walking in the light, and some days I just want to hide in the shadows. It all depends on my mood when I'm writing. It has been a while since I wrote a poem like this.... Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, Richard. I was very touched by them...

it gets sadder as it goes along, with the stanza about hell and that last stanza, that is the one I like best. A GREAT way to end this kind of a poem, Kelly.
