Darkness Never Sleeps

Temptress beside the river she beckons me from a hill Lust permeates my body driven insane by her shrill Temptation does pirouettes Dancing naked within reach unquenched and oozing fire let me taste you, I beseech Temptress blindfolds my eyes her suiters are nothing like me Ego seduces the conscience when passes are seemingly free Temptation is wearing a veil insatiable between the sheets Together we undulate in sin as her hair caresses my feet Temptress is a hall of mirrors warping everything I can’t see Projecting a sirens darkness into surrealistic fantasies Temptation controls the mist morphing through my dreams Brings me inside quasi heaven slave to her orgasmic screams Temptress is an open invite closed mind’s always cheat Spiked was the vamps chalice alas addiction’s bitter sweet Temptation, I sup her last drop then go searching for desert Back into the vales of yonder one hour before she gave birth By David Kavanagh

I didn't expect this from the title lol! I do love a siren, it's fascinating to imagine if there is anything going on in their minds when their faces look so sincere. In my poems I got transfixed by the moment it felt 'worth it'. Feeling so ultimately desired in beauty is a compelling thing. I'm sure I wrote about 6 or more, even went and wrote one in front of the actual painting haha (the captcha is PAS - so right on point as advice for the wise sailor haha)

I know the title is really not aligned very well with the poem, I sort of (chanced my arm) entering the contest (Darkness never sleeps) with this one, and deservedly got an N/A for going off theme, but boy I did have some great times with that siren while writing this one, (as you can tell) I totally let myself get kinda seduced? and then got off side lol! I agree being desired is a compelling thing and makes it impossible to navigate around the rocks, thanks Dilly for breathing some fresh air into this submerged, piece, cheers David :)

Soulful and true poetry, David. The temptations that beset us all are near constant. To crucify the ego and choose light over darkness is a narrow path to walk. We all falter, hence the beauty of forgiveness is embellished. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, to guide us into reflection and introspection. You should do well in the contest. Bill

You see trough my poem Bill, the temptress is indeed allegory but very real, the path around is very narrow and unforgiving, tread carefully but if willing to throw caution to the wind, temptation will swallow us up and leave us high and dry, even at its very own expense, cheers David
