Darkness

I'm afraid of the dark.
But not the kind
of dark you're thinking

This darkness,
has me terrified
...silenced

Isolated from the rest
of the world,
my family,
friends
...alone.

This darkness is not
what little girls and boys
scream about at night.

This darkness
is different
It's.... darker....deeper

I'm afraid of not
being good enough,
never falling in love,
no one ever loving me,
the same as I love them.

This darkness,
it follows me,
everywhere I go.
