Darkness
Darkness squeeze the light from my soul,
thoughts tainted by shadows of destruction,
day’s sun defeated by sombre gray,
take the joy and lucidity away.
Dwell in the dark dank cave,
primal rage rising, take me now,
banality, in all its instinctive glory,
rend the flesh from the bones of this lifes story.
Victims fall to clever words,
slicing deep, to the bone they bleed,
no match for a lifetime of conflict,
the onslaught, relentless, upon them we inflict.
Weary now of the fight, sleep welcomes the victor,
sleep now; bandage the wounds in dawn’s sanity,
in words our future is forged and formed,
tread lightly or be forever scorned.
Stoic
