Darkest Dream

From the pit of the soul
a beast rears its head,
shooting and pillaging,
raping and destroying.

So quick to condemn
but too slow to forgive,
he has been that way
since the beginning.

You black-hearted fool,
would you ever change!
a voice echoes out loud
deep in the wilderness.

That is when I awaken
and to my shame finding
that it was really myself
I saw in that nightmare.

Sweating and trembling,
the monster rises again
to begin yet another day
of not learning anything.
