Darkening Skies

Darkening Skies
Thunder
Claps her hands
Bidding me
Listen to her song

I am the bass
Resounding far and wide
I am the drum
Tapping life’s rhythms
I am the strings
Rising and dissolving in unison

Silence enters
I strain to hear a refrain
But the song has faded
What was is no more

Self disappears
With a prescient falling
Dropping, dropping
When

A faint echo whispers
Let go of the past
Surrender to the present
Breathe its nectar deeply
Follow its rhythms
Trust in abundance

I like this. 'Breathing the nectar of surrender' and 'following its rhythms. Nice one.

Thanks! You have many beauties--gives one much to think about. Especially liked Scarred Land.

Oh, yes... I like the line, I am the bass... the imagery rolls off like thunder and ends with self catering. I do like this one. A perfect 7. Kathleen, you are an amazing free verse poet... if you ever write a poem or have a poem about the stars let me know..... Linda
