Notes About The Poem

Dark Red Moon

Was the moon in a bad mood?
It came up from over the horizon
Dark red, deep rubicund.
It rose slowly
Following its normal pattern.
Still dark red, erubescent
As if in anger.

I sat on the pusillanimous sand, alone.
Moody and irritable.
Now she had left.
And I'm sad and angry,
Unlike the wavelets
That flowed over the rim of the beach.
There will be no peace between us.

Still the moon shone
Dark red.

The red moon of the lovely picture is a fine complement to the somber and sad mood of this beautiful verse. Great writing!

WoW Victor as always a beautiful write. In this you use the lunar eclipse to express the dark eclipse in a love affair. Nicely done. God Bless, JB

The dark red moon is a forboding sight, the ancients saw it as the harbinger of doom. Tom

Remorseless red moon turns soft white when our eyes are not bloodshot red!
