Dark of the Moon

DARK OF THE MOON

I wake late in sudden darkness of the moon.
I arise because it's too dark to stay asleep.
The stillness and the quiet is abrasive to my ears.
The Great Rift is light in this darkness of the night.

The new moon's silence somehow hurts my ears.
A vertigo ensues when I lift me from my bed.
I fall and cannot walk in the truest name of night.
Every star blinks out in this darkness of the night.

Dark of the moon's presence pulls me from a dream.
While it is a Super Moon that makes me quicken most.
Always a creature awake by full light or dark of the moon.
Either one will call me in this darkness of the night.

I hear the music between the notes and on the rest,
and stars are brightest against the panther black of night
I seem to know in the pause between the words,
in the silence now disclosing,
in this darkness of the night.

Hi Edlynn! I see that your pen has not gone rusty:) Night effects us in mysterious ways, whether there is moonlight or total darkness...mostly, though, when we have to face it on our own. // Sorry to read about the tragic events which clouded your final part of 2016. I hope that the new year has started on a brighter note. Wishing you all the very best. ~~ paul

Thank you Paul always for your reviews and sweet words. I am still out! Now with eye surgery. Found a hole on the retina leaking fluid. So laser surgery. Ouch. Not much writing OR reading with one eye. The sore eye wants to follow so I'm needing patience. Lots of paperwork ahead. Ugh! Happy 2017 2U!

Thank you so much. I had two other lovely comments here on this but they were removed. Still am hanging on with family member that finally can breath on his own but no movement. I was ready to return & then a friend's daughter was killed in the Ghost Ship Collective in the Oakland Warehouse fire and then my MD committed suicide a few days after Thanksgiving. 2016 from September on has just been so tragic. I hope and want to get back to all of you and this Art. Raising the money to return! Presently, Im just blue and sad! The three reviews that WERE here were like hugs to me. Since they disappeared, (all 3 and suddenly) I'll take this one! Thanks my dear friend for holding space for me!
