Dark of night

as I sit within my room
to creaks and pops of walls I listen
as the cooling of the night
changes bring in darkness with out

silence rings within my ears
perhaps hiding things that should not be
and dark fears within me stir
wondering of what I cannot see

who can know what is with out
	lurking perhaps without the light
forgotten not of childhood fears
still creep within the adult mind

sounds I hear from far away
of dogs and cars and music playing
slipping through my walls too thin
	stirring thoughts within my mind

perhaps I should now slip away
	journey to into the night
leave my room and its light
and seek out what’s in the night
