Dark days
The streets are silent, but my mind roars loud,
Shadows creeping, pulling me into the crowd.
Every step feels heavier than the last,
The future’s murky, drowned in the past.
I walk alone where light won’t dare,
Breathing in the city’s poisoned air.
Friends are strangers, smiles are lies,
Every hand extended hides a knife.
Dreams decay in the acid rain,
Hope is buried beneath my pain.
I scream in silence, no one hears,
My thoughts bleed through a veil of tears.
The nights are long, the nights are cold,
Memories sharpen, memories scold.
I watch myself through fractured glass,
A boy who’s growing, but the shadows last.
The laughter of others cuts like stone,
I’m king of nothing, yet I stand alone.
The mirror mocks what I’ve become,
A fractured soul, a beating drum.
I light a fire to chase the dark,
But it flickers weak, a dying spark.
Even the moon hides its face from me,
The world has locked my soul at sea.
Yet in the deepest night, I rise,
Through shattered dreams, through whispered lies.
Dark days linger, but I endure,
A boy, a man, unbroken, unsure.
