Dark

In my hour of need
Sadly, you’re not there
Alone, I reached out for you
But you weren’t there

And in this darkest hour
Where Death is a step away
His touch so warm
So welcome, until the sun, it rose

But where were you when I was lonely?
And where were you when I needed you?
And where were you when I realized
You’re the only light in my life?

Maybe you’ll never know
How scared I am
Of being left
Back in the dark

Maybe things would be better
If I was different
Don’t try to comfort me
Because you know me

And you know I’m right

But why are you forsaking me?
And why tear away?
Now, as I die for you
May your skin crawl as I breathe your name

And through these weeks
My dread multiplied
And you made the wounds worse

Come to me
Hold me close
My love
Tell me, what have I done to you?!

Now I walk
I walk alone to a place I know
It’s a wondrous little place
But it’s far, far away

Everlasting life and peace
In my perfect world
Inside your embrace
A place I know only exists in my dreams

Life has a way of ending when
It all seems to be going so perfectly
I hear Death calling my name
And the longer you continue this
The less I feel resistance to join him in his world

Pain!
Shame!
Drain,
Me of my inner peace

And I know it’s wrong
(But you don’t care anyway)

I know the legacy of you and I
And I know what this signifies
And I hope this all will pass
And the sun will rise again.
