Notes About The Poem

Dare I Touch

A tiny thread that weaves through
this tangled and mangled mystery,
              called life

     - hoping to reach you

Fragile . . .
        the heart of me

 Will unwinding what I find,
underneath broken pieces and strife

      leave me broken,
                 in pieces too?

Dare I touch -
       gently tug upon the string,
                 of everything
            you’ve been through

    - in hopes to touch you

Cautiously deliberating on what action to take...a sign of a mature person who knows that dealing with feelings and emotions needs handling with care. Your style of writing is, as usual, worthy of note. ~ Belated congrats re POTD, Brandy! ~ Regards // paul

Hello Brandy. Nice to meet you. This is my first time reading your thoughts as well (saw your comment on my dandelion poem). This poem hit me in a peculiar way: one part shy, and one part seductive (also compliments that photo quite well). Words aside. I like the look of the poem and the way it's organized with the different fonts and spacing. Few people put a lot of attention on the aesthetics and visual appeal; you, on the other hand, go that extra mile. I wonder where that string might lead?

Hi Timothy. Nice to meet you too. You feel these words correctly. The part shy and part seductive. Emotions tangle the heart in many ways. This poem holds the moments you feel, also that longing to know. So kind of you to notice the way my words caress the page. Who knows where that string may lead. Thank you for your lovely comment. ~ Brandy

I love 'tangled and mangled mystery / called life'. The threads we sew together as a protection around our wounded hearts need to be carefully, patiently, respectfully, and compassionately unwound before we are able to trust the one who desires to get close. This is the mystery of relationships. Self-protection or trust? Lovely write, worthy of POTD, and going into my faves, my friend. Well done.

Brandy! Congratulations on your POTD with your poem of caring, hesitancy and compassion. Your masterful use of metaphor, "gently tug upon the string," along with vivid imagery really pulls your poem together describing how we feel in our desire to be there for another person. I really related to pulling on a string and watching a hem fall apart. Great job dear friend. A great choice for POTD! Blessings

I just found it on the web. It is one's life. The weaving between you and God. "The Weaver Poem" My life is but a weaving, between my God and me,I do not choose the colors, He worketh steadily.Ofttimes he weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride Forget He sees the upper, and I the underside. Not till the loom is silent, and the shuttles cease to fly,Will God unroll the canvas, and explain the reasons why The dark threads are as needful in the skillful weaver's hand As threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned. He knows, He loves, He cares,Nothing this truth can dim. He gives His very best to those Who leave the choice with Him.    Anonymous
