Dangers of Delusion

Sadly, we may suffer a delusion Understanding not the thing we conceive, While functioning under the illusion Everything is truly as we believe. Perceptive minds do not always perceive That often-told lies are still lies, indeed, Truth is always borne on factual need Easily recognized as veritas -- Virtuous, of good character, good seed Free of falsity and meaningless dross. THIRD PLACE WINNER Written January 30, 2022 for “D Forms – Dizain – Poetry Contest” sponsored by Constance La France

I know this for a fact "Perceptive minds do not always perceive That often-told lies are still lies, indeed," and it is sad.

Yes, but so true. I suspect one of the basic facts of life. Counselors see this a lot.

Another profound write Milton. Sometimes we are deceived not necessarily from the facts; it's our hearts that are not willing to accept the truth. Good Luck in the contest! :) Paulette

Sometimes the mind tricks us and we don't see the wood for the trees and it often takes a second pair of eyes to point it out. Tom

So true, Tom. Our illusions and our delusions are quite intricately intertwined.
