Dandelions

Let the dandelions be, please So that they can feed the bees They are just as important as the trees Without them the birds and the bees will be overcome with disease All some people see are weeds Unaware they feed the bees needs Think of where cross pollination leads Into our food our pesticide bleeds There are consequences to our deeds Stop, look, listen, see what God sees Let fluffy seeds blow through the trees Fragrant air relieves winter freeze Walk softly enjoy the delicate breeze Let Dandelion Yellow brings you to your knees.

This is a beautiful poem of apprecation for what some see as a nuisance. I love dandelions now after learning how nutritious they are. I incorporate their leaves into my salads and use their roots for tea.

My parents made us Dandelion salad when I was a kid. It was very bitter. Maybe I’ll try the wine next time. ;0)

Well Richard, another excellent write from your pen. I can remember when I was young, chasing after the down, as I called it, of the Dandelion. I would catch it in the hand and then just blow it away. I like the serious approach to the piece. Everything in nature, is there for a reason. An excellent write my friend. Have a wonderful Friday. Your friend always....Mike.

Wonderful wording Richard. Half of me is Italian, so I learned how to cook dandelion greens at an early age. Stronger in taste than spinach or kale, but boy do they do the body good.

We were forced to eat dandelion salad when I was a kid. Hated it. Perhaps I would have preferred the wine.

A fine peon to the weeds we choose to label garden pests. Weeds have rights to! Good and satisfying bit of poeming.

Hello Richard … I too am a lover of dandelions, and quite a while ago I posted a poem totally different but with a similar message - the dandelion is not a weed but a beneficial herb - enjoyed - thank you Richard - Lindsay

the message comes through nicely in this well crafted piece...i was pondering many thoughts, from running through the fields of yellow, chanting "mama had a baby..." to blowing the wishes around, to being handed bouquets of them from small hands....i enjoyed the read and the journey :) hugs

Hello Richard Lamoureux, the dandelions are useful for wine, also the leaves some people use in salads. Have a nice evening my friend.

This is a beautiful tribute to the Dandelion that many hate to see popping up in their gardens or grass. Your wise message needs to be spread like the Dandelion's seed! I loved this Richard. : ) xxoo

This is a really sweet tribute to dandelions. Last year I went kind of crazy and was picking them to use in my salads. But it was taking too much time cleaning them, etc. I found a really tasty tea made from their roots and i drink it nightbly for their marvelous health benefits.
