Dandelions
Poised upright on leafless hollow stems
the supple florets radiate on shining sphere
at the hued touch of the slant sun rays,
make a unique flower within flower,
the sparkle of resplendent yellow,
the early harbinger of the essence of spring,
when the pollinators, waiting behind the mist
of the harsh winter receding,
scramble for the nascent nectar.
When the sunshine finally fades away
from the golden florid days,
the florets droop and the flower dies,
not unsung and not in vain,
for the slumbering seeds of dormant progeny
appear on the bowl of blowballs,
perched on the fluffy parachute
to float in the wind, fly to distant lands,
and in the blossoming spring resurrect
in the unknown flushing meadows...unwanted,
as the sunburst golden bloom…dandelions.
