Dandelion Wishes

Next to catching fireflies in a jar
Dandelion wishes, weren't very far

From that wonderful place we'd go
While believing all things are so

Before we knew that they were weeds
We giggled and eagerly spread their seeds

With the perfect puff of blissful white
Our secret wishes, each one took flight

As they gently floated through the air
Our dreams went too, without a care

Now, as they float through summer breeze
All they do is make me sneeze!

Aahhhh....the memory of dandelion wishes.......:-)

I remember a long ago summer making home made ice cream and catching fireflies around the back porch. Now I stay away from sugar and fireflies are hard to find. Thanks for the memory

Me too gotta admit!!! The owl...I don't know if you know...at least Cherokee lore.. hooting means bad things...or death....I don't go for it though..I love to hear them....

Seems a lot of people used dandelion in a title before...like I told Timothy..guess I really shouldn't be surprised..it was so common a thing for kids to do....we love our childhood memories as we get older!!!! Thanks always for your support Andrea...you are just the best.

Childhood memories- white seed-heads drift on just one breath and everything possible- innocence of the young. Donna I love every line in your couplet. A fantastic couplet. Warm Smiles, Connie

This was really fun to read, Donna, and actually quite ironic cause I wrote a poem awhile back called Dandelion Dreams... lol! I liked how carefree it was only to end up in hopeless sneezing (it really is like that, huh?)...
