~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the dandelion weeps
as a summer sun melts away
each dewdrop,
reflecting the morning
winds resolving to accompany
the hesitant chirps,
songs of hope, of grace
feelings whispering
to the weeds…
never will my heart forget
the dandelion’s tears
as she remembers the spring
and her first encouraging
petals, the glow of light
on the dawn
as she realizes her time
is here, she is born
blessed by buttery buds
and healing hearts
as she grows, refreshed…
by the light,
the soothing sun
who will, one day soon
scorch and scorn her
remind her
that the time is past
her blooms fade
into the confusion
of blazing summer heat,
throbbing rhythms
of melancholy and dreams
deathlike shadows
arising from the fervor
the intensity
summer’s breath
well aware
the time has come
for dandelions to wilt
for life to wither
for the shadows of doubt
to tremble
in the white cottony seeds
who mingle
with silence and still
cool evenings…
shriveling into the night
where the moon cries
grieving
like stars who glisten
and glow
with the overcast shades
of a feeling
emotional healing
comes soon
when autumn remembers
what the winter
will soon slaughter
in her slumber,
her regret,
her defeated suggestions
of a past
where summer
still lives, amid the cast aside
petals of dandelion
dreams.
