Dancing With Elusive Ghost
When we celebrate independence
That we obtained many moons ago
Peace permeates our beings as honey
Our hearts jump with joy and hope
Like a frog thrown back to its pond
And as stars fall for us from the sky
We vibrate our waists and shake breasts
But with elusive ghost we often dance
Year in year out, we clear our throats
Ready to enjoy the fruits of our struggle
We hold one another and chant chorus
But we see empty baskets of dry bones
We can see the ghosts of the struggle
Lying without decent burial in limbo
Vultures flying around them with appetite
But we continue dancing with elusive ghost
