Daily Refrain

My first thought on waking
Is the same every day
A single sentence repeats
On automatic play

I know you are intrigued
To discover what it may be
Perhaps a positive affirmation
Or a kind of cosmic plea

Well, my friends I have to say
That's where you're mistaken
I don't have time for any of that
It's already late when I awaken

It's merely boring and essential
A kind of mindless daily refrain
It's 'What will I cook for dinner tonight?'
Repeating again and again and again....

:-) Spot on! I know the feeling Julie. This telepathic refrain must dominate many households. Enjoyed your funny poem:-)
