Daffodils and Crocuses

With warm caresses from the sun
daffodils and crocuses sprout,
as the tulips start popping out.
The fight for my heart has begun,
snowdrops versus snowflakes of white,
both are such a delightful sight.
Winter's defeated, Spring has won,
life's revival tends to trump death,
its presence inhaled with each breath.
And soon sugary sap will run,
an elixir for budding leaves
it allows green to paint the trees.
As moths emerge from cocoons, spun,
they join butterflies in the air,
an open space they both can share.
With warm caresses from the sun,
the fight for my heart has begun.
Winter's defeated, Spring has won
and soon, sugary sap will run,
as moths emerge from cocoons, spun.
