Daffodil Blooms
They send their shoots upward,
the tender, fresh green sprouts
like young, adventurous youth,
to break the earth’s warming crust,
still chilled by winter’s cruel grasp,
reaching for the warm sunshine,
and Spring’s hopeful promise
of approaching summer bliss,
with fields of bright, smiling yellow faces,
that thaw hearts from winter’s frost
and bring forth joyful, warmer days.
