Dad's Gift of Prayer

As a young child, I would watch Dad pray, and wonder where he went. In such thoughtful conversation with the Lord, many hours were spent. Whether in a song at Mass, or during the Morning Offering Prayer, he seemed so much at peace... I wanted to be there. Through the years I listened, and tried to understand, many of Dad's thoughts on prayer and God's gentle, guiding hand... "Let Him be your center, and keep Him there each day." "God always answers our prayers, just trust in His own way." And so I find myself today a wife and mother of three, so grateful for Dad's gift of prayer and what it's given me. This was written for my Dad, to be read at his wake, January,2001.

This is a superb writing, Ellen. I lost a cousin about a month ago, and I wrote a memorial tribute to him. It can be found here. I wanted to title my poem "Mrs. Drysdale's Dilemma", but for some reason, the title kept rejecting. It said in red letters "Do not use special characters". There are no special characters there, so why was it rejected?
