Daddy Is a Man

The nights don’t dirty his world because Mommy is there,
but the noise and vibrations in his hive do,
as we fight and struggle for all.
In this scary darkness, he is Mommy’s man, but we miss him.
So his king’s bed is ours for our interest.
Little does he know we live because Mommy is a cocoon
to our pain and needs. This queen, who now has no attention
than she gives, even though she longs for it.

Daddy is a man, waking early and coming late in the night.
He is a king in the palace he can’t describe to others.
Days bring duties to him, no fuss, just work and responsibilities
that dive down to just his words and nothing because of limited time.
We travel the greens looking for nectar that can make honey flow
out of our hive while the queen and her drone get a few moments alone in the hive.
As we struggle for nectar, we wax ourselves in Daddy’s hive,
sucking honey into our mouths and expecting more.

Daddy is a man, a hive drone. We are workers, and Mommy is the hive queen.
What’s a queen without a drone, or who is a drone without a queen?
Workers only work for the hive, but the queen owns it besides her king.

Daddy is a man. He is the alpha but never the omega.
Mommy is the queen, the omega, the shield sinking like Titanic
in the ocean of love, with a thousand heads fearing to drown.
